New Things!
The new newsletter format is not the only new thing around here.
I'm thrilled to announce I have recently been made the new CEO for Hire Things!
Having faced breast cancer earlier this year and gained a new perspective on life, I am now ready for anything.
This is a very exciting and challenging opportunity that I plan to make the most of as we take Hire Things to the next level.
I am very passionate about Hire Things and taking it to be the site that all New Zealanders go to to hire online. We want to be as useful for hiring as Trade Me is for selling and have great plans to get us there.
Many of you know me already from emails and phone calls and I am still extremely hands on. I hope you continue to stay closely in touch.
So watch this space, changes are coming - glad to have you all along for the ride!
Some great numbers
The weather might still be like winter but Hire Things has starting to feel the spring.
This last month has seen a 26% increase in our site traffic taking us to a fabulous 65,000+ visitors a month with 176,000+ page views. Requests are up 25% and bookings up 36%.
Plenty of weddings, parties and adventures being planned!
Your storefronts now improved.
As you know all members automatically get their own "storefront" www.hirethings.co.nz/yourusername
Customers can now navigate your listings by category. This is a great way of showing everyone the range and diversity of listings that you have and allows them to be search a lot easier.
So now's a good time to go through your listings and ensure they are all in the correct categories... and remember you can put listings in multiple categories to better reflect the nature and usage of each listing.
Number one rule - get found!
The daily shuffle!! Get your listings in the top results!
We've now instigated a regular "shuffle" of the order of listings on the site, so everyone gets a good chance of being at the top of category listings and search results.
But wait there's more!!!
Responsive suppliers get a boost...
Suppliers responding and submitting quotes quickly and regularly get rewarded by being placed higher up the list.
The order of the shuffle is a combination of your response rate and then a little bit of randomness to keep things fair. If you've had no enquiries over the last few months, don't worry, we give you a response rate to keep your listings in the running.
New listings will stay at the top of the shuffle for a few days so keep add new things for hire!

Get some extra exposure by telling us your story.
How Hire Things works for you, a bit about your business. We are adding testimonials to the site which will link to your storefronts. We are also interested in any stories about your business or industry that can become blogs.
